The tomb of Qin Shihuang is famous enough, being the tomb of an emperor, but he just had to go over the top and add terracotta statues all over the place. Each individual soldier is different right down to the facial features and they are all made of terracotta, a type of clay. It's also amazing that everything was carved by hand. The statues used to have color but today the color has faded, when you go back in time you will see the colors. Farmers first discovered the soldiers in 1974 and so the dig began. The tomb the farmers found was not really Qin Shihuang's tomb, but the people to accompany him on his after life. Archaeologist have not excavated Qin Shihuang's real tomb for many reasons like the fact that it has booby-traps all around it, and it is believed to have extremely high Mercury levels. Also some people believe that we should let the emperor lie in piece. There is also a chance that every thing will disintegrate as soon we open the tomb. Later archaeologists found a second area with terracotta politicians and other people. It was almost like the emperor had everyone he had ever met with him in his tomb. Archaeologist found around 8,000 baked terracotta statues and around 500 terracotta horses. It will be very dark in the tomb so you will be provided with a flash light and the guide will give lanterns to every other person. Once you get the light on you will see rows and rows of statues including soldiers, politicians, artists, horses, and many more people. It is important to see how an emperor like Qin Shihaung used his power. You want to be careful if you have allergies to dust because there will be some dust that has settled. You'll want to listen very, very carefully to your tour guide so you know how to avoid triggering any and all booby-traps.
